What is Proposition 65?
Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to California consumers about
exposures to certain chemicals that the State of California has determined may cause
cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. The complete list of chemicals can be found at www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.

Why do some Malibu Sugar products carry a warning?
Many fashion and accessory items—such as jewelry, faux-leather accessories, coated
metals, dyes, glitters, or adhesives—may contain trace amounts of chemicals (for example lead or phthalates) used in manufacturing materials that give our products their color, flexibility, or shine. Because these materials can contain such trace elements, California law requires that we provide a Proposition 65 warning even if the actual exposure level is extremely low.

What does the warning mean for you?
A Proposition 65 warning does not mean that our products will necessarily cause harm. The warning is designed to inform consumers so they can make informed purchasing decisions. Many businesses, including most national brands, place Proposition 65 warnings on products sold nationwide to ensure compliance with California law.
